Running through Disney in the Dark

Today, I woke up at 4am. It’s the only time of the year where I will wake up this early and go for run. It’s the start of the 9th annual Disneyland Half Marathon weekend. Thousands of people come out to do the races. Today alone, there was 6,000 people running the family 5k fun run.

The best part? Dressing up! This year I went as the gypsy, Esmeralda, from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. My mom went as a pink Minnie Mouse, my sister as Captain Hook, and my bff as Olaf (her costume was so cute btw).

We power walked, jogged, and stopped to take pictures along the way. There were characters and staff cheering us on. But, the best part is seeing all the creative costumes people came up with. Like, haunted mansion wall paper…

The medal is always a nice treat too. Isn’t it cute?

Breakfast after the run was amazing. We had buckwheat pancakes with vegan butter and maple syrup (at Freesoul Cafe) in Old Town Tustin and a green juice from Cold Fusion. Their vegan Caprese sandwich is amazing too, if you are ever in the area I highly recommend it!

Fitness and eating healthy is so much more fun with others. You can motivate each other and push yourself farther than you thought you could go. Simply, because someone else now believes in you too. I encourage you all to find a workout buddy and sign up for a race. Start training together and keep each other accountable!

This Sunday will be a lot of fun too! My Dad and sis are running the half marathon. My Dad is dressing up as Captain America and my sister as….well…I can’t say yet! It’s a surprise! Visit her blog next week to find out: sheroruns.wordpress.com! My mom and I will be there cheering them on. 😀 Really really early….
